“To me, art is about expressing yourself and how you feel. Art is about enjoying yourself and feeling able to be creative, making the ideas in your head real and bringing them to life. Art is about sharing these ideas with others and allowing the viewer to understand and appreciate the beauty of what someone has created. I feel that portraiture is one of the most important genres of art, because is an insight into the past and a glimpse of what life is like for others. As an aspiring artist, I like to focus more on facial features, expressions, and how everyone is different. I love the idea of painting people and recording what they look like through my eyes and from my perspective. I feel that with portraiture it's sometimes up to your interpretation as well as drawing what you see, capturing the essence of the person as well as faithfully recording their outward appearance.”
